Project Period

August 2024 - September 2025

Project Partners

  • Yemaachi Biotechnology

This study aims to assess the acceptability of cervico-vaginal self-sampling for the detection of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) among women aged 18 to 49 in selected pharmacies in Nairobi, Kenya. Additionally, the feasibility of STI detection from self-collected samples will be evaluated. The study will employ a cross-sectional design, utilizing both quantitative and qualitative methods, including laboratory analysis. Women are recruited from pharmacies in the Roy Sambu constituency to evaluate the acceptability of self-sampling. A subset of women collect self-samples and complete a post-sampling questionnaire. In-depth interviews are conducted with pharmacists to gather insights into the use of self-sampling for the detection of STIs.
