MEN3: Improving Referral for Adolescents with Mental Health Disorders in Nairobi (RAMH)

This study aims to improve mental health referrals for adolescents from faith leaders and school staff to clinical care. The project will interview faith leaders and school staff in Nairobi City County about their experiences in providing mental healthcare to adolescents and their willingness to be trained on how to detect mental health cases and timely referrals.
A mixed methods study entailing a records review, observations, and interviews of primary healthcare workers managing patients with mental illness on their experiences and how best to improve referrals. The findings of this study will inform the design of mental health services and guidelines for the faith leaders and school staff on mental health and referral pathways.
