ABOUT Caliph Kirui

Caliph is a Research Officer and an early career public health researcher interested in HIV/AIDS and Non-communicable diseases. He supports the Food Environment Policy Action (FEP-Action project), which aims to create a healthier consumer food environment in Kenya. More to this, he contributes to the center’s laboratory, offering crucial sample handling and processing services to support various projects conducted by the center.

 

He joined APHRC as an intern in early 2023 and worked as a field interviewer and research assistant before assuming his current position. Before joining APHRC, he was a consultant trainer at In-Depth Research Services Limited. Also, he served as a part-time M&E lecturer at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology Enterprises. He holds a master’s in Public Health from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology and a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and Biotechnology from the University of Nairobi.

He is driven by the desire to see improved outcomes for chronic disease indicators and lives being changed through his work. Through this, he sees an opportunity to improve health and wealth for vulnerable populations.

Outside work, he loves farming, playing table tennis, volunteering to support charity work for the less fortunate, and writing poems.
