CMD1: Pathways to Gestational Diabetes Mellitus Screening and Diagnosis (GDM)

Project Period

February 2025 - February 2025

The main objective is to identify barriers and facilitators to diagnosing GDM in Kagando, rural Uganda. The study seeks to determine the burden of GDM in primary care facilities, explore experiences of women with current or previous GDM about the diagnosis and management of GDM and their knowledge, attitudes, and practices of healthcare providers in detecting and managing GDM, and investigate the availability of diagnostic services, guidelines, human resources, and financing for GDM.

Uncovering barriers hindering GDM care, with a focus on the healthcare system and community challenges, is helpful in the development of potential solutions to GDM care and ultimately, the improvement of maternal and child health.
