This study aims to understand climate- or environment-related migrations and their impacts on TB disease control, patient case management, and outcomes. Specifically, the study seeks to: 1) Conduct a review of literature on CC and TB-related linkages vis-à-vis nutrition and migration; 2) Assess health provider experiences with the interactions between CC and TB healthcare delivery; and 3) Explore lived experiences of TB patients who encounter CC-related migration in accessing TB care.
Methods
This is a pilot study in Turkana County, Kenya, with the following planned activities:
A comprehensive review of the literature will be conducted to map the existing literature, specifically examining the relationships between CC-related migration, food insecurity, and TB care. Key informant interviews will be conducted with health providers and policymakers in Turkana County to explore experiences with TB care provision in the context of CC-related factors. In-depth Interviews will be held with TB patients who have faced CC-related migration to explore their lived experiences with accessing and utilising healthcare in the context.
