ABOUT Lucy Wakiaga

Lucy A. Wakiaga is an Associate Research Scientist in the Education and Youth Empowerment in the Human Development Theme where she leads the Higher Education focus area. She also serves as APHRC’s Gender Lead and chairs the Gender Working Group whose role is to guide the Center’s internal and external gender-responsiveness, positioning APHRC as a leader in inclusive research leadership across Africa and the globe. She has over twenty-eight years of experience across the entire education spectrum, including senior academic leadership in higher education.

Her research interests include higher education research; qualitative research; educational leadership, administration and management; STEM, gender and higher education; and capacity strengthening of principals and teachers. Prior to joining APHRC, Lucy was a Senior Lecturer at the Center for Leadership and Management, and the Director of Quality Assurance, at Tangaza University.

Lucy is passionate about conducting research in education that builds the capacities of educational leaders and educators at all levels of education who, in turn, nurture learners that are transformative to self and society.
