Autism Spectrum Disorders: Evidence on Education, Therapy, and Support Services in Kenya

Education and Youth Empowerment(EYE) and Human Development

  • January 2026

Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) may behave, communicate, interact, and learn in ways that are different from most other people. ASD manifestations vary from child to child. Some children avoid eye contact, do not respond when their names are called, exhibit excessive fear, and engage in limited interactive or social play.

The purpose of the study was to generate evidence on access to educational and professional care and support services for children with autism, as well as psychosocial support and coping strategies for parents/caregivers to inform policy, practice, and further research.
