Dennis Mutinda Musyoka
Dennis is a Research Officer at the African Population and Health Research Center leading implementation of water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) projects. He is interested in understanding how water security and sanitation affect subjective wellbeing and productivity in urban populations.
His current focus is to generate evidence that contributes to the improvement of WASH services in urban populations using a human rights-based approach to water and sanitation. Dennis is skilled in designing and implementation of mixed methods research, impact evaluations, choice experiments, and lab-based microbial and molecular analysis. He leads teams in the development
of concepts, proposals, study protocols and tools, coordinating fieldwork activities, setting laboratory workflow, analysis, and reporting.
Dennis has worked with different stakeholders collaborating with government institutions, research organizations, community-based groups, and engaging funding agencies. He has implemented projects in urban formal and informal settlements, rural settings, and in crisis-affected populations in Kenya and Uganda.
Dennis has a background in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, with an advanced degree in Health and Environmental Biotechnology. He has previously received a studentship award under the Initiative to Develop African Research Leaders (IDeAL) hosted by the KEMRI-Wellcome Trust Research Programme.
