ABOUT Dennis Mutinda Musyoka

Dennis is a Research Officer in the Population Dynamics and Urbanization theme at APHRC. He has a biochemistry and molecular biology background and an advanced health and environmental biotechnology degree. Dennis supports water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) projects in developing concepts, proposals, study protocols, and tools. He leads implementation by coordinating fieldwork activities and data collection, setting laboratory workflow, analysis, and reporting. His past work has focused on improving water services in urban slums and generating evidence on the impact of safe water supply and behavior change interventions on childhood diarrhea.

He wants to understand how water quality and security affect Subjective Well-Being (SWB), specifically in urban informal settlements. He endeavors to improve knowledge of how human interactions with the total environment influence human health. Additionally, Dennis is keen to explore how the social and psychosocial exposome contributes to determining health and disease in developing countries.

Dennis has previously received a one-year studentship award under the Initiative to Develop African Research Leaders (IDeAL), which the KEMRI-Wellcome Trust Research Programme hosts.
