ABOUT Daniel Maina Nderitu

Daniel is a dedicated and results-driven Data Scientist at the African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC), where he leverages advanced analytics and machine learning techniques to address key public health challenges in Africa. He is pursuing his PhD at the University of Witwatersrand, focusing on cutting-edge data science applications in population health research.

With a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Egerton University and a Master’s degree in Distributed Computing Technologies from the University of Nairobi, he has developed strong technical expertise in distributed systems, big data processing, and privacy-preserving techniques. Prior to this current position, he held various roles, teaching IT and providing consultancy in systems development and data analysis at Zetech College, Chambers of Commerce, and Trocaire.

He is interested in leveraging data to generate impactful insights to inform public health, focusing on innovative solutions for complex health problems such as multimorbidity, health records linkage, and epidemiological modeling.

His current research and work intersect public health, data science, and technology. He strives to push the boundaries of how data can be used to improve health outcomes across Africa.
