He worked with Doctors Without Borders (MSF) in multiple missions for almost 10 years before he completed his postgraduate training in Public Health at Tulane University, New Orleans, LA, USA, with focus on international health and health care financing. He then joined the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) through their epidemiological fellowship program EIS in 2004 and focused on PMTCT and early infant HIV diagnosis. In 2006 he moved to Tanzania as chief for HIV care and treatment with CDC funded through PEPFAR. During his tenure the number of patients on lifesaving ART grew from less than 100,000 to over 300,000.

In 2013 he started his own medical consultancy firm www.capsele.net out of Tanzania, focusing mainly on telemedicine. He is currently providing an online platform for pediatric medical advice and is expanding the services rapidly together with a network of specialists.

Dr. Finkbeiner is a practicing clinician with strong analytical skills combined with an entrepreneurial approach to challenges. He believes that patients play a critical role in managing their own health and that this can be best achieved through respectful partnership between doctors and well-informed clients.
