ABOUT Pam Fredman

Pam Fredman has an academic background as Professor of Neurochemistry at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden and been and is active in many of scientific and scholarly contexts.

Pam Fredman has an academic background as Professor of Neurochemistry at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden and been and is active in many of scientific and scholarly contexts. She has been a board member of national and international scientific organisations and academies and served review committees including research project and institutional, scientific journals. She has extensive experience from academic leadership and between 2006-2017 acting rector at the University of Gothenburg. During 2009-2014 she was elected to chair the Swedish rector conference and in that position member of the European University Association council, EUA, of, and EUA Research Policy Working Group. Pam Fredman has participated in political initiatives and policy development in Sweden. For more than ten years she is the chair of the national leadership programs for incoming rectors and deans and act as chair for research centers with interdisciplinary and global approaches. On behalf of the Swedish government, she recently led the investigation on governmental steering and resource allocation to Swedish higher education institutions. From 2016 she is the president of the International Association of Universities (IAU), a global network of Higher Education Institutions and organizations created under the auspices of UNESCO 1950, serving the global higher education.
