ABOUT William Sila Mawia

William is an International Relations, Communications, and Policy Advocacy Specialist with over 9 years at national and international levels. His experience cuts across Government, Non-Government Organizations, and the United Nations. He is a Communications Manager within the Visibility Unit, Policy Engagement and Communications Division. Working closely with the Visibility Unit Manager, his role includes managing the Center’s Corporate communications to showcase APHRC as a peerless thought leader in the R&D ecosystem. He is a curious learner and a critical thinker who is adept in team management. He is passionate about sustainable development, working to eliminate poverty in all its forms.  

He has a Master of Arts Degree in International Studies from the University of Nairobi and a Bachelor’s Degree in Linguistics from Moi University. He is currently pursuing his PhD in International Studies from the University of Nairobi.

Prior to joining the Center, William worked with the Office of the Special Envoy of the UN Secretary-General for the Great Lakes region (OSESG-GL) as a Strategic and Public Information Assistant where he worked to deliver on OSESG’s mandate as outlined under the Peace and Security Cooperation Framework for the Democratic Republic of Congo and the Region.
