ABOUT Brenda Bernice Ntombela

Brenda Bernice Ntombela has had many years of senior management and executive level jobs and experience. She has been a senior official representing the Government of South Africa at international forums in many parts of the world. She is currently CEO of BTN Training Pty Ltd, which provides training in Early Childhood Development.

Brenda was the Head of Secretariat of the Human Resource Development Council of South Africa (HRDCSA), which is chaired by the Deputy President of the country. Whilst at the HRDCSA, she was appointed as the Vice Chairperson of the Public Sector Trainers’ Forum. The role of the forum was to provide advice to the Minister for Public Service and Administration on human resource development matters in South Africa.

She had also worked as a Councilor (Commissioner) for the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) where she was the Chairperson of the Southern Africa Postal Regulators Forum for SADC.

Brenda worked with the National Department of Health in South Africa where she represented the Department as a member of the South African Nursing Council.

Currently, she is the Vice-Chairperson of the Council of the Durban University of Technology, where she also serves as a chairperson of the Human Capital Committee of the University. In the past, she was on the Board of Bertha Gxowa Hospital. As a nursing representative from Government, Brenda had led several delegations regionally and internationally. Whilst she was Deputy Chairperson of the Avalon Home for People with Disabilities, she played an oversight role on care for people with disabilities.

Brenda holds a master’s degree in nursing. She also has qualifications in management and leadership as well as other sector specific certificates such as in Telecommunications, Education and Training.
