ABOUT Phyllis Mungai

Phyllis Mungai is part of the Development Unit and supports grant acquisition and management processes. In addition, she also coordinates Center-wide legal issues.

Phyllis holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the Catholic University of Eastern Africa, a Post-graduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law and is a duly admitted Advocate of the High Court of Kenya. She has acquired considerable experience after working with two law firms in Nairobi. Before joining APHRC, Phyllis worked with Wambasi and Company Advocates as a Senior Associate within the Corporate and Commercial Department. There, her work encompassed property acquisition, disposal and development as well as advising clients on a wide range of legal issues key being business establishment in Kenya, property laws, company restructuring and general regulatory compliance as well as reviewing and drafting commercial contracts.

Phyllis aims to serve to her best capability and apply ethical principals in order to make a significant difference. She believes that pleasure in the job puts perfection in the work. Phyllis is a quick learner who easily adjusts to new environments, self-motivated and an enthusiastic worker. She is also a Certified Public Secretary and a member of the Law Society of Kenya. As the very first lawyer at APHRC she aims to make an impact not just an impression.
