ABOUT Martin Kavao Mutua

Martin works under the Health Challenges and Systems research program. He is currently the Project Manager for the IN DEPTH Vaccination Project (IVP). He holds a Master’s degree in Biostatistics (2005) and Applied statistics (2004) from the University of Hasselt, Centre of Statistics, Belgium, and a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, and Computing (2000) from Kenyatta University.

Martin is a trained Biostatistician with expertise in data management and advanced statistical analyses. He Joined APHRC in January 2008, working under the Maternal and Child Health Project (MCH) and Poverty Projects. Before joining APHRC, he worked as a data manager at the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) and researcher at the Institute of International Research (IIR), London, UK.

 

Martin is working on his PhD in Epidemiology at the Institute of Tropical Medicine and Infectious Diseases (ITROMID) at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT). His research examines the effects of vaccination uptake, timing, and sequencing among children under three years of age on mortality and morbidity.

Martin always strives to be the best, is eager to learn and improve, and is an accomplished chess player.
