Kenneth Juma
Kenneth Juma is an epidemiologist and senior research officer within the sexual, reproductive, maternal, newborn, child, and adolescent health (SRMNCAH) Unit at APHRC. His work focuses on understanding the landscape of sexual, reproductive, and maternal health in sub-Saharan Africa, including research on the epidemiology of sexual and reproductive challenges, access to quality health services, measurement of abortion incidence, and quality of abortion-related care. He currently coordinates surveys aiming at estimating the incidence of unintended pregnancies and abortion in Kenya, Sierra Leone, and Liberia and previously coordinated a three-country survey to assess the quality of post-abortion care in Burkina Faso, Kenya, and Nigeria.
He has published over 30 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters and is an Associate/Academic Editor for the BMC Reproductive Health Journal and the BMC Public Health Journal. He holds an Erasmus Mundus Master of Public Health in Disaster Settings from the University of Oviedo (Spain) and Université Catholique de Louvain (Belgium) and an MSc. in Epidemiology from the University of Buea (Cameroon). He has an undergraduate degree in Microbiology and Biotechnology from the University of Nairobi and is pursuing a PhD in Population and Global Health. He has previously worked as a Research Associate at the Aga Khan University Hospital, Nairobi, Kenya.
