ABOUT Joseph Gichuru Wang’ombe

Joseph is the Deputy Executive Director and the Director of Operations. He leads APHRC’s commercial strategy, linking program operations to the organization’s commercial sustainability. He directs and supports the Corporate Managers responsible for Human Resources, Finance and Grants, Administration and Facilities, and ICT. He is also accountable for monitoring evaluation, learning, and business development and for leading the fund management program at APHRC.

He obtained his Doctorate in Business Administration in 2013 and his Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) degree (2009) from the Maastricht School of Management, Netherlands. He also has an MBA from the University of Nairobi, a Bachelor of Education degree from Moi University, and a CPA (K) and CPS(K).

Joseph joined APHRC in May 2003 prior to which he worked at the Association for Better Land Husbandry where he deputized the CEO in addition to heading the Finance & Administration section. He has previously worked in three commercial organizations as an Accountant, Group Financial Accountant and Chief Accountant. Joseph is driven by the desire to improve the welfare of mankind and always wants to see people operate at a higher level than they are in.
