ABOUT Franklin Koech

Franklin is a Research Officer who supports the day-to-day running of project activities. As of 2024, he is part of the team implementing the Primary Research for the Data on Youth and Tobacco in Africa (DaYTA) project, which seeks to collect bespoke country-level data in the Democratic Republic of Cong (DRC), Kenya, and Nigeria on tobacco use among adolescents aged 10 to 17. He will be leading the implementation of the nationally representative household survey across seven counties, including Turkana, Trans-Nzoia, Nandi, Laikipia, Busia, Migori, and Nyamira.

 

Franklin holds a master’s in biostatistics and a bachelor’s in applied statistics and computing from Moi University. As an early career Biostatistician, he is interested in data analysis and report writing. He has much experience working for organizations such as the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS), Dalberg, TIFA, and Frontier. Before joining APHRC as a Research Officer, he worked as a data collector, team leader, and field supervisor on various APHRC projects such as Food Environmental Policy (FEP-FoPL, GECO, MRC-PaLS, K-NAHMS, i-MLANGO and KAS.

He is experienced in quantitative & qualitative data collection, quantitative data analysis, planning and coordinating project activities, team management, stakeholder engagement, and working with vulnerable populations. With his problem-solving skills, he thirsts for learning new things, community service, and solving complex phenomena through reports generated from quality data.
