ABOUT David Osogo

David Osogo is a Research Officer at the African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC). He holds a master’s degree in Applied Human Nutrition from the University of Nairobi and a Bachelor of Science degree in Food Science and Nutrition from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology. David is a Fellow of Wellcome’s Climate and Health Public Engagement Leadership Program, a trained and committed Change Maker. He is a public engagement expert with experience in the use of innovative participatory approaches and working with community organized groups. He is very passionate about work that advances
sustainable food systems, and an ardent believer in the human right to food for all as contained in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the Kenyan Constitution (2010).

He is passionate about systems thinking and the food systems approach to solving food insecurity and nutrition challenges sustainably towards achieving Sustainable Development Goal number two (2) by 2030. He is part of a team of visionaries at the African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC) whose vision to transform Nairobi to a place of cool waters, where communities live in peace and harmony, and everyone has access to adequate, safe and nutritious food, won the 2020 Rockefeller Foundation’s Food System Vision Prize.

The team is currently piloting various interventions and programs towards actualization of this
vision, with David taking charge of coordinating the efforts. David is driven by the desire to make the world a happy, peaceful and harmonious place, where hunger in all its forms no longer exist.
