CONSULTANCY FOR PHOTOGRAPHY AND VIDEOGRAPHY SERVICES

The African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC) is a leading Africa-based, African-led, international research institution headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya. APHRC conducts policy-relevant research on population, health, education, urbanization and related development issues on the continent.An important part of our mission is the strengthening of the capacity of individuals and institutions to carry out quality research. Part of this includes the recently initiated construction of the APHRC Training Center that will serve as a training hub for researchers across the continent.

In this regard, APHRC will hold a groundbreaking ceremony to commission the project on November 14, 2018, in Kitisuru, Nairobi. We invite proposals from experienced videographers and photographers to produce audio-visual materials as stated below.

APHRC shall provide additional briefing information concerning this assignment in a storyboarding meeting to be held on October 31, 2018

Activities

  • Briefing meeting before the assignment on October 31, 2018
  • 1-day shoot (photography and videography) on November 14,  for the groundbreaking session ( to include activities of the day and interviews with three identified persons during the event )
  • 2-day shoot for additional interviews on dates to be confirmed. This will include interviews with the Executive Director and/or Deputy and shooting around the APHRC campus.

Deliverables

Photography on November 14

  • Portrait photos of the board members
  • Action-oriented photos of the groundbreaking session
  • High-resolution photos shared in real time with the lead coordinator for social media
  • Group photos of board members, funders, and all participants
  • Shots of the APHRC campus
  • Raw and edited compressed photos shared on google drive delivered within two days after the ceremony

Videography

The recording will not only capture the activities of the event but also APHRC’s journey (past, present, future) through the subsequent interviews. Ultimately, the video will highlight the need to invest in the Center’s next phase of development. The exercise is scheduled to take place on November 14 and on two other days (specific dates to be communicated in due course).

  • One video: 2-3 minute video (with English subtitles)
    • Storyboard session before filming (October 31, 2018)
    • First edit of the video by (December 3, 2018)
    • Final approved video by (December 14, 2018). This is a fixed
    • Edits and final video shared on drive / WeTransfer
  • Master copy of all interviews and footage on a hard drive

Requirements for the application

  1. Budget including final production costs. Please note that all related costs to this work should be factored into the budget.
  2. Reel (two samples of similar previous works profiling your professional experience and suitability for the job) shared through Google Drive or WeTransfer
  3. CV of lead producer
  4. Work plan and timelines
  5. Details of the production team
  6. Legal permission to work in Kenya (either proof of citizenship or valid work permit required)

Please note our procurement policy does not allow for an advance payment. Payments will only be made once the consultancy has been completed.
