ABOUT Hellen Gitau

Hellen Gitau holds a master’s degree in epidemiology and a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry. She is coordinating research activities under the Complex Urban System for Sustainability and Health (CUSSH) and CASCADE projects, which seek to transform African urban health. Her focus areas are climate change, solid waste management; and Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH). 

Before joining APHRC, she worked with the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) to coordinate various projects, such as the National Tuberculosis Prevalence Survey.

She is passionate about working with communities to impact their livelihoods and well-being. Hellen has expertise in participatory system dynamics modeling, an approach used to solve complex and dynamic issues.
