HIGHER EDUCATION RESEARCH
Higher education is critical to Africa’s development yet African universities and scholars contribute very little to the global knowledge economy. The Center’s approach is to conduct research that broadens understanding of the impact, the value of existing research capacity initiatives and to identify what works to make higher education systems relevant and sustainable in Africa.
We generate knowledge for more strategic decision-making on research capacity strengthening programs, while cascading the same to institutions of higher education in Africa.
OVERVIEW
The Higher Education Research unit through conducting relevant research in higher education:
- Addresses gaps in higher education, including research capacity in higher education institutions across the continent.
- Broadens understanding of the impact and value of existing research capacity initiatives and what works to make higher education systems relevant and sustainable in Africa.
- Generates knowledge that contributes to making more strategic and high-value decisions with respect to research capacity strengthening programs, while cascading the same to higher education institutions around the continent.
