Francis Maina Kiroro
Francis works in the Data Synergy and Evaluation Unit, providing various teams with statistical and data processing support. So far, he has supported research teams focused on health and education research. He is a PhD candidate at Strathmore University’s Institute of Healthcare Management under the Digital Innovations and Diagnostics for Infectious Diseases in Africa (DiDIDA) program. This initiative is a collaboration among institutions, including APHRC and Strathmore University, funded by the EU and UKRI.
He holds an MSc in Social Statistics from the University of Nairobi and a BSc in Applied Statistics from Maseno University. He previously worked as a Statistician at Aga Khan University Hospital, Nairobi. He is a member of the International Biometrics Society, the International Biometrics Society (Kenyan Chapter), and the ISIbalo Young African Statisticians Association of Kenya.
He is results-driven and passionate about making a difference, with a strong interest in education and health-related research. He has authored and co-authored various publications such as a newspaper article on best practices for online learning during the pandemic, KIX Observatory on School’s reopening in Africa during the COVID-19 Pandemic, mapping the impact of urbanization on vegetation in Nairobi, the ‘green city in the sun’, and a blog on matters evaluation and why it matters.
