Open Job

The African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC) is an African-led and Africa based international research institute committed to conducting high quality and policy relevant multidisciplinary research. Our research addresses important development issues and challenges facing sub-Saharan Africa in areas such as education, population, health, aging, urbanization and wellbeing.

The CPSE project aims to act as a critical and neutral knowledge partner to the constellation of actors advocating for the full domestication and implementation of continental commitments on the sexual and reproductive health, and the rights of Africa’s young people and women. The project is planning to conduct data collection on the lived experiences of pregnant and parenting adolescents and is seeking to have a counsellor who can provide psychosocial support to participants and enumerators who may experience distress given the sensitive nature of the topic.

  • Provide counselling and psychosocial support to the field interviewers and adolescent girls.
  • Ensure professionalism and ethics in service delivery.

Qualifications

  • A degree in counseling, psychology or related field from a recognized institution.
  • Experience in the provision of psychosocial services to young people and understanding of the mental health challenges they face.
  • Experience working in informal settlements.
