The African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC) is an African-led and Africa based international research institute committed to conducting high quality and policy relevant multidisciplinary research. Our research addresses important development issues and challenges facing sub-Saharan Africa in areas such as education, population, health, aging, urbanization and wellbeing. Our goal is to generate evidence for meaningful action, engage with policy makers in the region to disseminate our research findings, influence policy decisions, and improve the quality of life in Africa.

The APHRC invites applications for Qualitative and Quantitative Field Interviewers in one of its project that aims to strengthen capacity for play-based learning. The project will be implemented in the following areas:

  • Kiambu County – Limuru sub-county
  • Kajiado County – Kajiado Central sub-county
  • Nairobi County – Embakasi sub-county

Qualitative Field Interviewers

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Recruit participants who meet the eligibility criteria.
  • Conduct interviews on all recruited study participants.
  • Complete, edit and submit all interviews for cross-checking and verification by the supervisor.
  • Keep updated records and databases of assigned work.
  • Other related activities assigned by the supervisor and project manager.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree.
  • Must be a resident of Nairobi, Kajiado or Kiambu County.
  • Able to conduct qualitative interviews in both Kiswahili and English.
  • Have experience in note taking during qualitative discussions.

Quantitative Field Interviewers

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Recruit participants who meet the eligibility criteria.
  • Conduct interviews on all recruited study participants.
  • Complete, edit and submit all assigned interviews for cross-checking and verification by the supervisor on a daily basis.
  • Keep updated records and databases of assigned work.
  • Regularly file reports on project activities.
  • Review the collected data to ensure all questions are completed prior to online submission.
  • Meet the team leader on a regular basis to submit progress updates.
  • Any other related activity assigned by the project manager during the contract period.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A minimum of C plain in KCSE.
  • Must be a resident of Nairobi, Kajiado or Kiambu County.
  • Have experience in quantitative data collection and electronic data capture.
  • Fluent in English and Kiswahili (verbal and written).
  • Be prepared to work full time on the project for the duration of the study.
