Background

The African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC) is a premier research-to-policy institution, generating evidence, strengthening research and related capacity in the African research and development ecosystem, and engaging policy to inform action on health and development. The Center is Africa-based and African-led, with its headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya, and a West Africa Regional Office (WARO), in Dakar, Senegal. APHRC seeks to drive change by developing strong African research leadership and promoting evidence-informed decision-making (EIDM) across sub-Saharan Africa.

To effectively execute this mandate, the APHRC sources its talent from across the global market and particularly nationals of sub-Saharan Africa.

APHRC has had tremendous changes and growth in its systems, staff numbers, number and nature of projects as well as number of jobs. In order to optimize and free up essential resources within the human resources operational unit, and lessen operational risks inherent with rapid growth, APHRC seeks the services of a HR recruitment consultancy firm to support with sourcing talent for our key functions.

Objective

The objective of this consultancy is to offer recruitment and selection services that match our need for regular hires. The Consultant will facilitate the delivery of fast and effective results for recruitment solutions – attracting, motivating and selecting the best candidates. It is imperative that the end-to-end recruitment process consistently demonstrates diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) best practices.

Key Tasks

  • Work closely with APHRC’s recruitment lead to review job descriptions and understand the skills, competencies, qualifications and critical success factors required for each vacancy.
  • Employ the most appropriate, dynamic and engaging channels to attract and motivate talent throughout the recruitment process. The Consultant will identify candidate priorities and aspirations and in turn communicate APHRC’s employment proposition in the best possible way.
  • Support the selection process by applying appropriate methodology of candidate screening, testing, personality profiling and interviewing to assess applicants’ qualifications, experience, motivation and personal traits in order to ensure best possible match.

Expected Outputs/ Deliverables

  • Advertize vacant positions.
  • Share profiles of recommended pre-screened candidates within stipulated timelines to be agreed upon.
