Community Connections Campaign Supports APHRC

December 15, 2014

In November, the World Bank Group Kenya country office launched its Community Connections Campaign (CCC) with an auction that saw its staff outbid each other enthusiastically. This year’s CCC will support the African Population and Health Research Center’s efforts to advance development goals on the continent.

Dr. Alex Ezeh shares his remarks at a meeting with the World Bank Kenya country office staff.

Based in Nairobi, the Center conducts research on population, health, education and urbanization trends across Africa. The organization engages policy makers to ensure that decisions are informed by evidence-based research, and that policies are socially inclusive.

The Center’s work is particularly relevant given that Africa’s population is expected to reach 2 billion by 2050. Accommodating the growing population will require sound urbanization and healthcare planning.

James Kiplimo, Development Manager of the Center said, “We appreciate the World Bank Group’s support and valued partnership, and look forward to participating in the Community Connections Campaign.”

The World Bank Group chose the Africa Population and Health Research Center after a rigorous selection and vetting process. The CCC, which is both an individual and corporate effort, will see the Kenya Country Office participate through eGive for the first time this year. Kenya is among one of the 20 country offices taking part in the campaign this year.
