ABOUT GLADYS MBAI

Gladys is the senior policy engagement officer of the Synergy Unit, Policy Engagement and Communications (PEC) program assigned to the Nutrition and Food Systems unit under the Health and Wellbeing Theme.

She is a seasoned policy and stakeholder engagement professional with over a decade of experience dealing with policy issues and
coordinating multifaceted programs while working to create partnerships. She has extensive knowledge of policy analysis, policy engagement, stakeholder relationship management, and regulatory and government affairs.

She previously worked at Tiko Africa as a program lead, overseeing the implementation of the voucher-based youth empowerment program in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth Affairs,
Creative Economy and Sports in Kenya.

 

She has supported international firms in agriculture, health, environment, energy, and  ICT sectors to increase their visibility in East Africa. She also implemented policy-influencing strategies and formed partnerships with government bodies to promote their objectives while driving policy change. She has also supported county governments in Kenya by developing the Public Participation Policy Framework for county governments and training county officials on devolution, fiscal planning, and social accountability, guiding the development of the county Integrated Development Plans.  She also facilitated evidence-based research projects informing climate change policies for the Government of Bangladesh.
Gladys holds a master’s degree in Governance and Public Policy from Middlesex University in London, United Kingdom, a BA in International Relations from the United States International University, and an Executive Education Certification in Public-Private Partnerships and ICT public policy. She is driven by the potential for policies to impact people’s lives meaningfully. Seeing how well-crafted policies can significantly improve education, healthcare, or environmental sustainability fuels her dedication to this field. She is excited by the prospect of contributing to policies that can make a real difference.
Gladys is also a member of the International Relations Society of Kenya.
