ABOUT Samuel Iddi

Dr. Samuel Iddi is a Research Scientist I at APHRC and boasts over 11 years of research expertise in biomedical science, biostatistics, and data science. He supports research designs and implementation at the Center and leads innovative projects employing machine and deep learning to address diverse populations and health issues. Dr. Iddi’s contributions include pioneering statistical methods tackling overdispersion, zero count inflation, and longitudinal outcome modeling, and employing these techniques to analyze biomedical data to inform public health, clinical, and medical practice. He is proficient in R, SAS IML, MATLAB, and SQL; he also has expertise in data visualization, dynamic report generation, and macros and script development for efficient results generation. He is a mentor and a recognized trainer in statistical methods and software and has contributed to knowledge generation and dissemination. 

Samuel received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Ghana. He earned a Master of Statistics with a specialization in biostatistics from the Universiteit Hasselt (UHasselt) and a Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences (Biostatistics) at Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KU Leuven), both in Belgium.  He has worked as an Associate Professor of Biostatistics at the University of Ghana and a Research Associate at the Alzheimer’s Therapeutic Research Institute (ATRI) at the University of Southern California, USA. 

He is dedicated to enhancing the well-being of vulnerable populations through rigorous research that generates evidence for effective policy implementation. Furthermore, he is committed to mentoring and fostering the growth of the next generation of African scholars and researchers.
