ABOUT
Wandera Bonnie
Dr. Wandera conducts epidemiologic and implementation science research to answer questions on sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) in diverse African contexts, including general and humanitarian populations. His work leverages implementation science through a health systems strengthening approach, translating research into evidence-based, accessible, and sustainable solutions that advance SRHR outcomes.
He has background training in Medicine and Surgery from Makerere University, holds a Master’s in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from Case Western Reserve University, USA, and a PhD in Public Health from Makerere University, Uganda. Before joining APHRC, he served as Family Health Analyst and Director of Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning in donor- and government-funded Maternal Child Health and Strategic Information Projects in Uganda, where he led research, monitoring, evaluation, and learning for national family planning and SRHR programs.
Dr. Wandera is passionate about using evidence to improve sexual and reproductive health and strengthen health systems. He is now applying his breadth of experience accumulated over the years, from his early days as a front-line health worker in war-ravaged rural Uganda to designing, managing, and evaluating epidemiological and implementation science research programs in the region.
