Sofia Jomo
Sofia is a registered public health nutritionist who supports the implementation of nutrition and food systems research projects in the Nutrition and Food Systems Unit. She is the research officer for the Novo Nordisk Foundation–funded school feeding project and also supports the Visibilize4Climate action and Pathfinder II projects.
Sofia has a master’s in Food, Nutrition, and Dietetics from Kenyatta University and a first-class Honours Bachelor’s degree in Food, Nutrition, and Dietetics from Kenyatta University. She previously worked as a clinical nutritionist in a county referral hospital and as a public health nutritionist in a non-governmental organization.
Sofia is driven by her passion for contributing to achieving zero hunger (SDG 2). She hopes that Sub-Saharan Africa will attain a state where the food systems are sustainable and everyone has a good nutritional status. Sofia was awarded the Kenyatta University Master’s scholarship for attaining a First Class Honours in her undergraduate degree. She was also among the 20 African students competitively selected by the Global Korea Scholarship (GKS) team to attend a nutrition program at Kyungpook National University in Daegu, South Korea.
