ABOUT Mercy Chang’ach

Mercy supports the Measurement, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) activities at APHRC. She supports the Center’s MEL agenda, knowledge translation, documentation and sharing of best practices, and MEL capacity building. With 8 years of experience in Monitoring, Evaluation, Research, and Learning (MERL), she is responsible for documenting and sharing best practices across the organization, which helps in refining programmatic approaches and fostering an organizational culture of learning. Additionally, she is critical for building MEL capacity within APHRC through training and providing supportive supervision across different themes. She is an active member of the MEL community of practice that shapes the MEL practice across the Center.

Mercy holds a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health from Moi University and a Certificate in Monitoring and Evaluation from the Kenya Institute of Management. With 8 years of experience in Monitoring, Evaluation, Research, and Learning (MERL), she has built a strong foundation in public health and data-driven decision-making. Before joining APHRC, she worked as a MERL and community engagement coordinator at RAAGSAN Consulting, where she led MERL and social research projects while also driving business development.

Her experience includes global health contributions, such as conducting HIV/AIDS patient care cost research with the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) Global Programs for Research and Training, implementing the Global Fund Grant with the International Community of Women Living with HIV (ICW Kenya), and supporting Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (MNCH) programs with the Academic Model Providing Access to Healthcare (AMPATH). Mercy has consistently leveraged data and research throughout her career to improve health outcomes and empower communities.

Mercy is passionate about public health and believes in the power of data to drive improved service delivery and health outcomes. She is dedicated to leveraging data and knowledge to create sustainable health solutions and maximize program impact. Her commitment to learning ensures that the lessons learned from data are effectively applied to refine strategies and improve program outcomes.
