Lamech Mutava
Lamech Mutava is a development communicator who believes in the power of compelling storytelling to drive sustainable development. As a writer, filmmaker, photographer, and designer, he uses compelling narratives to elevate the visibility of key initiatives, foster partnerships, inspire action, and enable change that improves people’s lives.
At APHRC, Lamech leads the branding, conceptualization, and production of communication and multimedia assets to showcase the work of APHRC’s Catalyze Impact Initiative, which seeks to strengthen Africa’s Research and Development ecosystem. He also develops and delivers comprehensive communication and multimedia solutions, including training programs focusing on multimedia content production and website strategy.
For more than nine years, Lamech has worked with international humanitarian and development organizations, including International Medical Corps, Diakonia Sweden, and Relief International, to deliver life-saving services to millions of people living on the edge of survival—telling stories of change in Kenya, Somalia, Ethiopia, South Sudan, Zimbabwe, and Burkina Faso. Lamech holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing and public relations and is currently writing a thesis for a master’s degree in communication for development at the United States International University.
