Julius Kirimi Sindi
Sindi is a Program Manager in the Research Capacity Strengthening division, dedicated to enhancing Africa’s research ecosystem by fostering innovation, collaboration, and institutional excellence. He focuses on strengthening research and institutions’ capacity, driving policy engagement, and ensuring that research outputs create real-world impact.
As an economist by training, Sindi has extensive experience in research and development (R&D), having managed programs across more than 15 African countries and the USA. His career spans academia, capacity building for universities and research institutions, and scaling innovative solutions to market. He is passionate about leveraging research outputs, policy, and technology to bridge the gap between academia, industry, and society, strengthening research systems for sustainable impact.
Sindi believes in using knowledge to address critical societal challenges. He is known for his collaborative approach and commitment to effective communication, ensuring that research is conducted and translated into meaningful change. He often says, “People are like flashlights—when they grow dim, we don’t discard them. We help them find their light again.”
