Ivy Nyarango
Ivy serves as a Board Secretary and legal counsel. In this role, she coordinates the board and governance functions and supports providing legal services to the Center.
She holds a Master of Laws degree (distinction) from the University of Pretoria, specializing in human rights and democratization. She also has a Bachelor of Laws degree from Moi University, a Diploma in Legal Studies from the Kenya School of Law, a Diploma in international protection of human rights from Abo Akademi University, and a Higher Diploma in Human Resource Management (distinction). She has also undergone training in governance and leadership.
Ivy is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, a Certified Public Secretary, a Certified Governance Auditor, and a Certified Professional Mediator. Before joining APHRC, she worked with the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) as the Director of complaints management and legal services, where she provided guidance in the development and implementation of policies, strategies, plans, standards, and procedures relating to the management of complaints and providing legal services in accordance with the Organization’s mandate and strategic plan.
