ABOUT Ivan Gabriel Busulwa

Ivan Busulwa is a public health professional with 15 years of experience leading complex donor-funded projects funded by organizations such as USAID and the CDC. His expertise spans program management, strategic planning, and resource allocation. Ivan has also spearheaded numerous impact evaluations for USAID and the Ministry of Health in Uganda, combining evidence-based approaches with practical solutions to influence health policy in Uganda.

He is the Program Manager for the Implementation Network for Sharing Population Information from Research Entities (INSPIRE) Program. Ivan also supports the Nairobi Urban Health and Demographic Surveillance System (NUHDSS), which studies the long-term consequences of living in urban slums on the populations’ health and socioeconomic outcomes.

Before joining APHRC, he was Manager of Health with Cardno in the U.S. and Team Lead and Senior Advisor for private-sector partnerships and health financing initiatives under various USAID and FCDO-funded projects in Uganda.

Ivan holds a Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) from Harvard University, where his work focused on health policy, finance, and population health. He also has a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and a Master of Public Health (MPH) from Boston University in global health management, as well as a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Mathematics from Makerere University.

He is passionate about finding innovative and cost-effective ways to deliver quality healthcare to African underserved populations.
