ABOUT Ernest Kirui

Ernest Kirui is a Monitoring and Evaluation Officer at the Data Synergy and Evaluations Unit under the Research Program. He is primarily responsible for managing M&E initiatives for multiple projects across different themes and supports researchers on M&E designs and plans, including supporting or conducting formative, process, outcome monitoring, and evaluation. He has over 8 years of experience in M&E, research and knowledge management, leveraging data analytics, and visualization.

He holds a Master of Science (MSc.) in Medical Statistics from the University of Nairobi, obtained in 2019, and a Bachelor’s degree (BSc.) in Environmental/Public Health from Moi University, achieved in 2014. Before joining APHRC, he served as a Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning Specialist at DanChurchAid, where he played a crucial role in designing and operationalizing M&E frameworks that enhanced program effectiveness, impact, and accountability. Ernest has also worked with Hand in Hand Eastern Africa, where he spearheaded the set-up of the Knowledge Management strategy, strengthening organizational learning and adaptive programming.

Ernest is committed to continuous professional development, passionate about leveraging data to improve health outcomes across communities, and excited to contribute to APHRC’s mission of generating evidence to inform health policies and improve the quality of life for African populations.

Outside of work, Ernest enjoys participating in community charity work, which he believes enriches his contribution to supporting the most vulnerable.
