ABOUT Anthony Idowu Ajayi

Anthony Ajayi is an Associate Research Scientist with the Population Dynamics and Sexual and Reproductive Health Unit at APHRC. He holds a Ph.D. degree in Medical Sociology from the University of Fort Hare, South Africa, and a Master of Science degree in Demography and Population Studies from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. Anthony has over seven years of experience implementing multi-country and regional research projects, using various research methods, including cross-sectional quantitative and qualitative design, problem-driven political economy analysis, scoping reviews, and secondary analysis of large datasets. 

Before joining APHRC, Anthony was a research fellow and lecturer at the Department of Sociology, University of Fort Hare, South Africa. He is the lead Principal Investigator and a Co-Investigator on multiple studies in Burkina Faso, Malawi, Kenya, and Liberia. Anthony’s quest is evidence generation that would shape policies, make society more inclusive, and ensure the wellbeing of all. In 2018, Publons recognized Anthony for being in the top 1% of global peer reviewers. He currently serves on the editorial boards of BMC Women Health and AIDS and Behavior.
