Alice Ritho
Alice Ritho is a Research Officer at APHRC’s Nutrition and Food Systems Unit. She contributes to food security, nutrition, climate change, and health projects. Her expertise spans food science, nutrition, and policy advocacy. Ritho has a strong background in qualitative research, including participatory methodologies such as photovoice and digital story-telling, project management, and community engagement.
She holds a Master of Science in Food Science and Technology from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology and a Bachelor of Science in Food Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of Nairobi. Over the years, Ritho has developed strong competencies in research, climate change and health interlinkages, food systems, and public and policy engagement, positioning herself to contribute to evidence-based solutions in nutrition and food systems.
Ritho is passionate about the sustainable transformation of climate-resilient food systems, particularly for vulnerable populations in arid and semi-arid lands (ASALs) and urban-poor communities. Her goal is to contribute to research that leads to real-world impact—advancing food systems that are productive but also sustainable, inclusive, and nutrition-sensitive.
