Official APHRC Statement on Covid19

March 18, 2020

Following H.E President Uhuru Kenyatta’s national address on Sunday 15th March 2020 regarding the Covid19 situation, the African Population and Health Research Center has decided to take precautionary measures, including putting in place alternative working arrangements for its employees for the next 60 days.

This is to heed the Government of Kenya’s directive regarding the gathering of persons, the suspension of all conferences, workshops, colloquia and training programs, and the allowing of employees within institutions to work from home.

The Center will maintain a skeleton staff in their physical offices, however, all APHRC staff are available and shall be working remotely. They shall also be conducting their day-to-day meetings virtually, and we intend to continue our programmatic work with our partners, albeit at a reduced level.

Similar measures have been taken for both our headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya and our West Africa regional office in Dakar, Senegal.

We stand with the African continent, and the world at large as we remain on high alert. We shall continue to remain vigilant and advise our staff to take all necessary measures to protect themselves and their communities.
