Policy change is rarely straightforward, and in the sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) space across sub-Saharan Africa, it’s especially tough. Advocates face constant resistance, slow progress, and often invisible impact. Yet they persist, confronting discomfort as the norm while pushing for real change on critical issues like adolescent pregnancy, unsafe abortion, and the rights of sexual and gender minorities.
