
Patrick Amboka
Project Officer
Patrick Amboka is a Research Officer with the Research and Related Capacity Strengthening (RRCS) division at APHRC. He works on the Catalyze Impact via Africa-led Implementation Research Platforms project, which seeks to strengthen the research and innovation ecosystem across the African continent through capacity development, institutional support, and evidence-driven implementation. Patrick also supports the Weaving the Web project which aims to develop a transformative framework for women’s health measurement addressing long-existing limitations in how women’s health is defined, quantified, and addressed globally.
He holds a master’s degree in public health (Applied Epidemiology) from Amref International University (AMIU) and dual bachelor’s degrees in nutrition and nursing. He is a Consortium for Advanced Research Training in Africa (CARTA) Cohort 12 PhD fellow. Before joining APHRC, he gained extensive clinical and public health experience at Aga Khan Hospital, Coptic Hospital, and Jaramogi Oginga Odinga
Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH). Patrick’s interests lie in research and program implementation within the fields of community and public health, disease prevention, and nutrition. His career aspiration is to become a leading researcher and epidemiologist dedicated to advancing health outcomes in Africa. He is driven by a passion for generating actionable evidence that informs policy and contributes to achieving Universal Health Coverage across the continent. Patrick is committed to making meaningful contributions to science, policy, and practice through his expertise. He is driven by a passion for advancing evidence-based solutions that address public health challenges and promote sustainable development across Africa.
