Urbanization and Wellbeing in Africa Posted on 09/12/2019 (09/12/2019) by Chris Anyango RESEARCH RESEARCH // WHAT WE DO // Urbanization and Wellbeing in Africa Urbanization and Wellbeing in Africa Signature Issue The priority area within urbanization and wellbeing is to understand and develop systems for health and wellbeing in slums. We will aim to identify service delivery systems, develop and assess service delivery models that are responsive to the slum context. OVERVIEW The Center’s work has contributed to a better understanding of poverty as an urban phenomenon. Our work has provided insights into the plight of slum dwellers, the extent of intra-urban inequities and the gradual erosion of the urban advantage in health and wellbeing within Africa. With the rising number of urban informal settlements across the continent, our work demonstrates the positive impact of increased attention and investment by governments and development partners in improving the living conditions of slum residents.
