ABOUT Stella Chege

Stella is part of the Development Unit that is tasked with management of the Center’s grants portfolio, seeking new funding as well as donor relations and partnerships management. The unit also provides oversight to the Monitoring and Evaluation functions for various projects at the Center. She is responsible for overseeing the day to day management of grants and sub-grants as well as fundraising for the Center’s growing portfolio of projects.

Stella holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Literature and Communication Studies, Bachelor of Arts degree (Hons) – Development Studies and Master of Arts degree in Development Studies, all from the University of the Western Cape, South Africa.

Stella has experience in grant management, fundraising, partnership management and research. She has coordinated, supervised, and implemented management strategies including policies, programs, and procedures for organizational operations. She has also had good exposure in developing, supervising, implementing, monitoring and evaluating diverse projects in East and Southern Africa.

Stella has a passion for the African continent; in particular, she has a strong interest in human rights issues and the gender intersection with regard to the political, financial and advocacy commitment of key players to advance the wellbeing of Africa. Stella believes that social change lies in individual change makers and organic movements that acquire the right tools to influence their society.
