ABOUT Olivier Habimana,

Olivier is an Economist within Education and Youth Empowerment Unit (EYE), Human Development (HD) theme. He works primarily on research projects focusing on inclusive quality education and young people’s transition to work.

Prior to joining APHRC, Olivier was Policy Analyst at Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). Before that, he served as Research Analyst at Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ).

Olivier earned a Ph.D. in Economics from Jönköping University (Sweden), a master’s degree in Economic Policy and Institutions from Sapienza University of Rome (Italy), a double master’s degree in Applied Labor Economics for Development from the University of Turin (Turin, Italy) and Sciences Po (France), and a bachelor’s degree in Applied Statistics from former National University of Rwanda.

Olivier is passionate about economic research to inform the design, costing, and evaluation of interventions essential to empower African youth. He was inducted into the Rwanda Academy of Sciences (RAS) in 2019 and is a member of the International Association for Applied Econometrics (IAAE).
