Mercy provides administrative support to the Consortium for Advanced Research Training in Africa (CARTA) program. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Economics and is currently pursuing an M.A. in Sociology (Community Development and Project Management) at Egerton University.
Mercy joined APHRC in March 2010 prior to which she worked with the International Center for Insects Physiology and Ecology (ICIPE) as a Program Assistant. She is driven by the desire to succeed despite all obstacles. Mercy is motivated by the ant – it searches for an alternate way when it meets an obstacle and never turns back. It has discipline and foresight; it knows that it won’t get food in the rainy season, so it collects food in advance during summer. It feels failure is the first step to success and hence does not give up until it reaches its goal.
