Esther Mutuku
Esther is a statistician at APHRC, with a research focus on sexual and reproductive health issues for women, girls, and other marginalized communities. She is a lead statistician in the Kenya Abortion Study, whose aim is to estimate the incidence of induced abortion and the severity of associated complications in Kenya.
Esther holds a bachelor’s degree in Statistics. Before joining APHRC, she worked as a data analyst intern at the Kenyatta National Hospital. She joined APHRC as an intern in 2021 and has since transitioned to a junior statistician. Over the last three years, she has contributed to key projects within the CPSE program, including the induced abortion studies in Sierra Leone and Liberia. She has recently published on the above topics and has several manuscripts under review.
She is passionate about statistical modeling and predictive analytics, utilizing tools like STATA, R, and Python to generate impactful, data-driven insights that inform policies and interventions in reproductive health.
