Claudious Chikozho


Director of Research


Dr. Claudious Chikozho is the Director of Research at APHRC. Under his direction, the Research Division will implement the research priorities outlined in APHRC’s 2017-2021 Strategic Plan, with special emphasis on deepening knowledge and evidence in the specific signature issues for each Research Unit. He will also take the lead in exploring ways to expand our portfolio of projects and programs into new frontiers of research.

Dr. Chikozho has more than 20 years of experience in applied social science research and considerable experience in leading teams in national and international research centers. His most recent position was Director of Research at the Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC) in South Africa.

Dr. Chikozho obtained his PhD in Applied Social Sciences from the University of Zimbabwe, investigating public sector reforms and systems strengthening. He also holds a Masters’ degree in Public Administration with a specialization in public policy analysis and development planning; a BSc Honors Degree in Political Science; and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Monitoring & Evaluation from the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa.

Among his awards and accomplishments is a 2005-2008 Fellowship from the Kellogg Foundation that enabled him to join a cohort of fellows from Southern Africa who were trained in leadership for Africa’s transformation.
