ABOUT Chimaraoke Izugbara

Chimaraoke joined APHRC in 2006 as a Sabbatical Fellow and was appointed to the position of Associate Research Scientist in August 2007.

Prior to this, he worked with universities in Nigeria as a lecturer and researcher, and with the Five College African Scholars Program, University of Massachusetts, Amherst (USA) as a Resident Scholar and Professor.

Chimaraoke`s current research interests and expertise are in socio-cultural determinants of reproductive health behavior, care-seeking practices, sexuality, gender, sexual behavior, and the development of health-related social work interventions. He holds PhDs in Medical Anthropology, and in Social Work, Gender and Health from the University of Gothenburg, Sweden.
